St Anselm's
Warm communal room at St Anselm's
Our Home

A small home, designed around calm.

St Anselm's is intentionally small. The scale is part of the clinical model — it's how we know everyone, and how distress finds less room to grow.

The home, at a glance

The details that quietly matter.

We are a registered nursing home with all private rooms, set in a traditional building a short walk from the Walmer seafront. Our communal spaces — sitting rooms, conservatory, dining room — are warm, light-filled and designed to feel like a home, not a ward.

Private rooms

A room that feels like yours.

Every resident has a private room with a garden or street outlook. We encourage people to bring familiar things from home — a chair, photographs, a favourite blanket — because familiarity is part of how we settle distress.

Communal spaces

Rooms that breathe.

Sitting rooms with wingback chairs, a conservatory with a piano, a dining room that seats a few at a time. Spaces designed to feel residential, with calm light and quiet acoustics — not the busy corridors of a typical institution.

Gardens & setting

Walled garden, open sea.

Mature planting, a sheltered seating area and a wide lawn — somewhere to walk, somewhere to sit. The Walmer coastline is a short walk away, and the light on the Channel changes through every hour of the day.

The best way to know us is to visit.
