Our news

Lauren from G fitness has now started to carry out weekly exercise sessions for groups every Tuesday. Lauren is going to be working in addition to Mel who provides one to one exercise therapy for the residents and also visits on a weekly basis,

We have a few new additions to our care team. Tia has joined the team as a carer but will also be carrying out the role of events co-ordinator and has some great plans in progress for celebration days and events within the home. Having hit the ground running with a celebration of National Pie week on Monday 3rd March, which saw some colourful pie decorations appear throughout the home. An informative quiz in the afternoon and some delicious pie (and quiche) tasting. We are looking forward to the St Patricks day celebrations on 17th March and seeing what other national days Tia decides to celebrate in the coming months.

Some of our carers have taken on new roles within the home in the past 2 months. Having recently completed his NVQ level 3 Chris is now our infection control lead and will be assisting the nursing manager in ensuring all care plans are current and relevant for our residents. Chris will be liaising with families and residents to ensure that the care plans are working for our residents and informative for the staff.

Another carer is now taking on the role of manual handling lead and will be ensuring that all equipment and staff are working as they should. Carrying out monthly audits and competency checks of staff and addressing any training needs that staff may have.

One of the nurses Dave has now agreed to take on the role of registered nursing manager again. Dave was previously manager of the home for over 27 years and retired just over 2 years ago from his position as registered manager, however after a short break came back to us as a registered nurse and has now decided to step back into the registered manager role. We are very pleased to have him back in the management team with the wealth of nursing and home management knowledge that he holds.

Whilst we have a had 2 years with different managers at the helm we now look forward to a more settled future with the great team of nurses and carers that we have.
